COS Initiatives
Black and Brown in Belmont:
We organized a network of Belmont residents and families in the Belmont Public Schools in order to bring together residents, students, families, and educators from Boston & Belmont to discuss social justice issues in our school & community. This network meets regularly and hosts many community-wide events.
Mutual Aid:
We collaborate with organizers and activists in our region to support our neighbors and their needs. From gift cards for the holidays to hot chocolate on cold winter nights, we aim to move resources from the Greater Boston suburbs to neighbors in Boston and surrounding communities. SOLIDARITY, NOT CHARITY.
Activism:
We organize standouts in Belmont in support of Black lives. We also support organizers and activists in our region by joining forces to show up in support of movements for justice. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE.
Community Meetings:
We hold community meetings for COS supporters to gather, share news, and bring up concerns. From these meetings, we develop action plans to address issues local & regional issues. We also host events for celebrating our community and building culture around our activism.
Speaker Series:
We host events to engage the community around topics such as policing, public education, and social justice work in our region.
Standouts
We host monthly standouts for racial justice.
First Sunday of each month, from 4:00 to 4:30pm in Waverley Square, Belmont.
